Can’t stop thinking about that girl…

Was visiting in the ER yesterday, it was one of those room with 2 beds, separated with a curtain. I was in the chair facing both. After few hours of waiting a cop brought this skinny girl covered with tattoos, barely able to walk. First impression, she was an inmate… probably, second impression, she was on drugs…

The nurses and doctors tried to figure out her name, her medications, when she was using and asked her age. It was hard to understand her, all I remember is that she used 1 or 2 days ago, that her name was stephanie i believe and she was born in 1987… like me…

Then the doctor came…

And after asking her few things, it started…

She was having convulsions, from where I was i could only see her feet, the nurses closed the curtains a little more but I was too late, I knew what was happening…

The doctor asked some kind of tube, then they rolled her bed out of the room.

I don’t know what happened to her, maybe she died after that, maybe not. I will never know. I’ve never looked at her face. But she was my age. I could have been her if my life would have taken another path. Ah! She could have been me if she would have chosen another one.

I thanked my husband. I might complain but my life could be worst. I don’t even know if she still got a life. If she does, it can’t be a good one. Maybe no one cares for her. Somehow, I did. I do.

This lion’s name is Bonedigger and he was born with a crippling bone disease, so the keepers introduced three dachshunds to give him companionship; Abby, Bullet and Milo.
